Name Tags: You Are... (Part 68)
New Creations
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
As far as the east is from the west,

So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12 (NKJV)
Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.
Isaiah 43:18 (NKJV)
Advertising's favorite word is NEW! Even so, God said it first and owns it. But the spinmeister (a.k.a. Satan) plays His Word in tantalizing sound bytes, leading lost sheep to bad destinations: places where new is about externals; places overflowing with cool idols; places where eyes and hearts can get frozen.

But for the sheep who refuse to go there: the ones who know newness is found in God; the ones who are born again through His Son; the ones He labels as new creations... Satan tries to convince them they're still old: too flawed and beaten to shine for the Lord. He wants them sidelined and off the world's fields.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: rise, shine and show the world something new. Because newness is not about stuff; neither can any saint become old--at least not in the ways that matter.

Even if sometimes you feel tarnished, if bad habits break out like acne or old thoughts try to capture your mind. But if God calls you new creations, who are you to disagree with Him?

If He chooses to forget your sins, if His mercies are new every day, shouldn't you choose to forget them, too? Because in the Eyes of your Creator, you're as shiny and bright as His Son.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
