Name Tags: You Are... (Part 70) Peaceful These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) Regrettably, our world is not peaceful. Wars and rumors of wars are everywhere. Even among comfy congregations, conflicts rule houses behind pretty doors. Even within the mightiest nations, terrorism is becoming a new norm. Nevertheless and all the more, God's Word promises His saints overriding peace: a peace that transcends hard circumstances. Like out-of body experiences, saints rise above life's most terrible times - as well as everyday irritations. Actors, models and talent for Christ: You're a bridge over troubled waters. You connect the church with Hollywood and lost lambs (a.k.a. star-struck fans) with the Shepherd Who longs to lead them. Your noticeable pursuit of peace (especially where hatred abounds) is a most compelling calling card: one that will help you gain admittance to places angry saints have not gone--especially media's mountains. For me, peacefulness is a challenge. Maybe I'm a warrior at heart... or maybe I need more self-control. But soldiers who don't have peaceful hearts can too easily become bullies. And Christians who don't have self-control need to return to basic training: the Word, prayer and godly mentors. 'Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way' (2 Thessalonians 3:16, NKJV). To Be Continued... P.S.
