Name Tags: You Are... (Part 72)
Powerful & Victorious
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:19 (KJV)
You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:57 (NKJV)
Who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
Before Christ, I looked strong and successful by many of the world's definitions. In public, I played this role pretty well. In private, I knew it was just an act. Because the mask fell off so easily. Underneath, I was a helpless loser: unable to find or share lasting joy.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Don't believe in the earthly symbols of dominance and supremacy. To God, they're toy swords and plastic crowns. And if His children act like bullies, He'll take them back and they'll be punished.

Sooner or later, even kings learn how little power they really have and how shallow victory becomes.

As His models and ambassadors, you're called to redefine these two words in crucial public performances (most notably in your off-stage time). So consider two ways to do it:

1) Since your power comes from God's Spirit, offer His fruit to hungry people: through love, joy, peace, patience and kindness; through goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and supernatural self-control.

2) Since the only lasting victory comes in full surrender to the Lord and the Holy Spirit's work through you, lay every earthly crown at God's Feet and share your winning move with others.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
