Priests & Ministers
He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father.
Revelation 1:6 (NASB)
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, Who also made us sufficient as ministers of the New Covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (NKJV)
In the early church, leaders were chosen by prayer, fasting and proven character. In churches today, leaders are chosen by personality and diplomas. Other traits that help a pastor rise include good looks, great sermons and Scripture knowledge.
I don't mean to insult gifted pastors who've worked hard for these certifications. They are the state of the state in today's church. But unless I'm reading the Bible wrong, these degrees are like letters of the Law: trifles of paper awarded by men.
Because when the Great High Priest tore the veil, the earthly roles for the Lord's future priests expanded to every Spirit-filled saint: new ministers of the Word to the world; so all the poor, lost and powerless lambs might find refuge in the greenest pasture.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Wise spiritual mentors are good. Faithful friends who keep you real are good. God's Word and Spirit are more than good. Only They can teach and never fail.
No matter what our church system says... God says you're His priests and ministers: humble, talented and outward bound; unfettered by old rules and high walls; raised by Christ to new life beyond walls.
