Name Tags: You Are... (Part 90)
The Lord said, 'Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants....'
Luke 12:42-45 (NKJV)*
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:10 (NASB)
If we're called stewards, then we're managers of the Lord's properties by His command. We follow Orders to bring Him profit. If we do well, He pays us lavishly.** The two Parables footnoted below are extraordinarily important.

Saints who are entrusted with stewardship of God's gifts, talents and fellow servants bear critical responsibilities.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Ponder a few ramifications:

1) God's stewards chosen to be leaders aren't to beat Christians placed in their care: not bodily or in business deals; not for profit to honor themselves.

2) God entrusts stewards with His talents. He expects their multiplication by the shrewd management of His wealth: to honor Him and bring Him glory.

3) In Bible days, talents were money. It's not accidental that this word was transformed over millennia to describe gifts of entertainment.

4) If saints hide the talents God gave them (even under the roof of a church), does God call them lazy and wicked? Mustn't saints go unto all nations?

Actors, models and talent for Christ: I trust you understand your mission. Like a mom, I'm proud of your progress... as radiant stewards for the Lord.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
