Name Tags: You are... (Part 96)
On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them...
Matthew 10:18 (NIV)
The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in His Name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.

Luke 24:46-48 (NIV)
You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
Imagine yourself on the witness stand. It's a retrial: The world versus Christ. His first trial was in Jerusalem, and the Defendant would not testify. So the jury shouted, 'Crucify Him' (Luke 23:21, NIV). The governor agreed, and so He was.

But the condemned Preacher didn't stay dead. Marvelously, He walked out of the tomb and was seen on earth for 40 more days until He ascended back to His home.

Today's trial concerns His reputation. Many believe He never existed. Others claim He was a phony con man... or maybe a prophet, but not God's Son. The story is just too incredible and proud Christians have been false witnesses.

This jury is larger than twelve people. It's the world, including His Own lost sheep... And if they can just hear their Shepherd's Voice, God says they'll recognize It and follow. But how can they hear the One Who's not here?

Through YOU, His witnesses, now standing up on the platforms of modern media:

Not in condemning or sermonizing...

But in a kindness so real it connects,
In a joy so compelling it uplifts,
In a beauty so fresh it surprises,
In a tone so lovely it penetrates covered ears reaching right down to the heart.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
