Christ's Letter to the Lukewarm Church (Revelation's 7th and Final Letter)
These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 'I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My Mouth. Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' - and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked--I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Revelation 3:14-22 (NKJV)
Some scholars believe Christ's Seven Letters in the Book of Revelation form a prophetic chronology of the church: as in showing the historic stages of church evolution since Jesus left.
Are we in the stage of the Lukewarm Church? A stage of political correctness? A stage where the church's majority wants to please the world and covets its wealth? A stage where zeal is now an ugly word, because some church zealots are brash bigots?
Because zeal (passion) has two directions: one follows God and the other does not. Even so, zealots have this in common: an overwhelming, contagious ardor.
Zeal attracts others to join its great chase. Whether it's passion for the cause of Christ, passion for media's favorite shows or passion that incites an evil gang.
Because Jesus still loves the Lukewarm Church, He says to them, 'Be zealous and repent.'
Actors, models and talent for Christ, God endowed you with fervent passion: a passion without hypocrisy; a passion without wealthy trappings; a passion to love without judgment; a passion to seek and find the lost... so guard your zeal and dump naysayers.
Because the warm light of your passion attracts eager fans to come and see. Also, it may reignite old kin to a fervor too long forgotten.
