No Turning Back
But Ruth said, 'Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go...'
Ruth 1:6 (NAS)
When you are following God, remember His 'no turn back' policy. Consider God's Words to the prophet, Samuel; 'I regret that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands' (1 Samuel 15:11).

Later, in the Book of Job, God guides His sorely-tested servant in the proper direction: 'He laughs at fear and is not dismayed, and he does not turn back...' (Job 39:22).

Today, God gives His saints mighty armor to wear (Ephesians 6:11-17), and they are protected in every direction except one: retreat. Neither the breastplate of righteousness nor the shield of faith work when God's people show their backs to the enemy.

If God is calling you to the field of film, fashion, theatre, or music, don't let anyone or anything stop you. Expect resistance. Expect temptations to return to what is familiar, because Jesus said we will face both; nevertheless, 'The one who is in the field must not turn back' (Luke 17:31).

When you see the kings of Hollywood crowning star after star with fame and awards, stars who don't shine for God, don't despair. Your time is coming.

God will crown His Own stars, 'And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?' (Esther 4:14). As God was with Queen Esther, so He is with you.

Therefore, walk like a model. Talk like Christ, and He will continue to advance your position. Your compass? Toward Him. Your direction? Forward.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
