Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, 'What do you seek?' They said to Him, 'Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?' He said to them, 'Come, and you will see.' So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day.
Dear actors, models and talent for Christ,
Consider 3 short but pressing questions. I believe you should answer them daily.
1) Where do you live (beyond countries or towns)? You got it. You're in the Body of Christ.
2) Where do you stay (in your heart, mind and soul)? Joy, passion and peace. So fight to keep it.
3) What's your passion (flowing downstream from Christ)? Performing is part. A critical part.
When Jesus met His coming disciples, they were intrigued. They wanted to see more- to find out where this wondrous Phophet lived, so He invited them to come and see.
What they discovered had little to do with homes or things. Christ was a humble Man. What changed them forever was His lifestyle, His values- and especially His faith.
When you meet agents, performers and fans, they'll be intrigued, too. They sense something grand. Your Father gave your more than mere talent. You've got charisma, His Own reflection. You're magnetic. You have the IT factor. (Don't even think about denying it.)
Where you 'live' (what you do when you're off stage), will be intensely interesting to fans. Digging into celebrity lifestyles is an industry- in and of itself.
Here's the thing: Whether you're liked and followed in a community or the whole world, you inspire people. Even toward Christ. Whether you're rich (or not) doesn't matter, because you're rich in Spirit and talent.
Like Jesus, you welcome lonely strangers to see your home in the Body of Christ.
Onstage they see an excellent artist. Offstage they see an excellent person. Many haven't met anyone like you. Because you're 'Abiding in Him' (1 John 3:15) and His Words are 'Abiding in you' (John 5:38).
Some of your fans and friends will follow you.
Because in the construction of our lives, Jesus is the only Home that endures.
## Our Homes: The Only Home Worth Having (Part 3, Conclusion)
NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Our Homes series.
