Parent Traps (Part 11)
Include: Faulty Construction
Unless the Lord builds the house,

They labor in vain who build it;

Unless the Lord guards the city,

The watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127:1 (NKJV)
Everyone who hears these Words of Mine and does not act on Them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Matthew 7:26 (NASB)
Some families whose faith is in this world are showing off lovely houses. But a greater percentage of them are obviously falling apart. Many families with a Rock-solid faith are shining like glass buildings. But others, just as faithful, are cracking by a slew of shattering storms.

How can Christian parents be sure their homes are growing in God's direction? How can His performers be sure they're building upstanding careers in Christ?

1) Don't be deceived: No matter how delightful a dwelling seems to appear, its foundation is deviously close to decay without God's support.

2) Please rest assured: No matter how many brutal blasts hit a house of faith, God will preserve its beautiful parts and reassemble it at the end.

3) Most important: Jesus Christ is the Word of God, so study Him closely. Cherish the Bible as the Cornerstone of your family's construction.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Miss anything, but the Word of God. You might be intelligent planners, people gifted in team management, parents of high-achieving children, architects of crackerjack futures, meticulous with all the details, skillful in your communications, including your family's visions, including your career's advancement.

But if you forget to build on Christ, no amount of buildup is enough. No amount of talent is enough. No amount of schooling is enough. No amount of brilliance is enough. Like Jericho's wall, homes will crumble.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
