Parent Traps (Part 38)
Overcome: By The Big Guns
Faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions...
Hebrews 11:33 (NKJV)
Hope does not disappoint.
Romans 5:5 (NKJV)
Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:8 (NKJV)
The big guns to keep the enemy under our feet are faith, hope and love. They are irrepressibly stunning, causing ugliness to slink away. They are impossibly possible in God's strength through the most dire of times. They are impeccably wonderful in the building of happy endings.

To ask a believer 'What is faith?' seems an unnecessary question. To ask a warrior 'What is faith?' elicits passionate responses: 'It's fighting hard in spite of your fear. It's following your leader through hell. It's leaving the easy life behind.'

To ask a believer 'What is hope?' gets a lot of lofty answers. To ask a warrior 'What is hope' begs a raw, real or comic retort: 'It's getting through the next day alive. It's making it home with all my parts. It's a loaded Burger King Whopper.'

To ask a believer 'What is love?' invites the perfect Verse, 'God is love' (1 John 4:8). To ask a warrior 'What is love?' prompts a tear in the soldier's eye: 'It's helping make my family safe. It's standing in the fire with my friends. It's laying down my life if needed.'

Actors, models and talent for Christ: No cunning plan of the enemy, no failure as a parent or child, no vast time of separation, no incredibly bad decision, no impassably fortified door, no irreparably broken heart, no unattainable destiny can withstand the force of God's Big Guns.

As players on His media team, cling to faith, hope and love as lifelines. For children of God, they're survival. For soldiers of God, they're the big guns. By them, keep the enemy face down. Your friends and fans in entertainment will stand and wonder at their power.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
