Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.
Galatians 6:9 (NAS)
If I had to choose one reason talented people do not achieve their dreams, it's this one:
They give up.
I've spent a lifetime watching hopeful stars pursue their calling, and I can't recall a single example of failure when a determined person held the course. Sadly, the majority lose heart.
Before I knew God, I didn't realize this observation follows His laws to the letter. 'For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised' (Hebrews 10:36). God does not give us a timetable for success. He rewards us when everything is perfectly prepared--especially us.
We don't have to look far in the Bible to see heroes who waited years, decades, or generations to become what God called them to be: the father of Israel (Abraham), the Governor of Egypt (Joseph), Israel's greatest king (David), the father of John the Baptist (Zechariah), the most prolific apostle (Paul), and even the Messiah Himself (Jesus).
Shouldn't our big break in the talent industry come quickly? Depends on who you're asking. God forbid you're asking anyone but Him.
We must become 'Imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises' (Hebrews 6:12). Showtime is quickly approaching, and the Director of the Heavens is forming His cast. Our hearts must be content in the humility of service before He will promote us to a walk of fame.
The victory party is coming for those who grow their talent, serve Him well, put on patience, and hold the course!
