Paul's Powerful Priorities (Part 12)
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the Word of God... For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the Word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. And the Word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.
Acts 13:44,47-49 (NKJV)
'You are My witnesses,' says the Lord... 'Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,' says the Lord, 'that I am God.'
Isaiah 43:10-12 (NKJV)
Paul was a publicist: a witness for God. He represented our Lord in speech, letter and lifestyle. Everything Paul said, wrote and did centered around two things: 1) The greatness of God, and 2) The salvation of men through Jesus Christ.
To new audiences, Paul started with his own story: a story different from any other apostle. Because Paul began his Jesus journey on the wrong side. As a persecutor of Christians, he tried to rid his world of wrong. When Paul realized he was wrong, he spent the rest of his life repping the One Who is right.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: America specializes in communication. Publicity, hype and spin launch politicians, celebrities and causes.
Consider Adolph Hitler. He ran the 20th century's most sweeping PR campaign: convincing, conniving and controlling. Masses believed him, while people of conscience ignored him... until it was too late. Inconceivable damage was done. Has the same thing happened in Hollywood?
Because without God, brilliant communicators are clanging cymbals, silencing everything but them.** Consequently, excited listeners become hearing impaired, pushed into spiritual deafness.*** That's one reason Jesus said repeatedly, 'He who has ears to hear, let him hear.' ****
Surely God can open ears. He did for me.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: With God, you are brilliant communicators. You are people of conscience. Riding on the back of a beast whom God has leashed, you rise above the deafness caused by media's megaphone. Excited listeners become hearing enabled, invited into fellowship with 'The still, small Voice of God' (1 Kings 19:12).
As His 21st century communication task force, public relations is your full-time job. So 'Talk of all His wondrous works!' (1 Chronicles 16:9) By demonic design, God's Name has been trivialized and blasphemed by media. By godly design, by your witness, words and lifestyle, now is the time to lift His Name on high.
