Poor People (Part 3)
The Culprits
The wicked have drawn the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct.
Psalm 37:14 (NKJV)
Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks justice.
Isaiah 32:7 (NKJV)
He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; He lies in wait to catch the poor; He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.
Psalm 10:9 (NKJV)
Jesus told us, 'I will make you fishers of men' (Matthew 4:19). Because a fishing contest is now in progress. At first glance, the lures for both sides seem similar: strength, talent and brilliance of communication.

Side A (the Almighty's team) was trained by Jesus. Side B (Belial's team) was trained by the devil.* But their purposes are completely different.

Side A reflects the Son and walks in righteousness. Their nets are made from rays of light, love, truth and joy. Helpless fish are transformed into godly people: people who realize the greatness of His Life; people who discover the beauty of their lives and push toward Heaven from glory to glory.

Side B reflects Satan and walks in manmade light. Their nets are artificial and woven from lies. Helpless fish are transformed into hyped-up people: people who believe fairytales of happiness; people who discover their emptiness of heart and push toward Hades from dollar to dollar.

Now consider poor people as fish in dirty oceans, because earth is covered in corruption and deep darkness. They are looking up at shiny objects we might call hooks. They are hoping for a way out of their desperation.

Can they buy freedom on an over-crowded fishing boat? Is it found in a lottery ticket or street dealer? Is hope seen on a screen filled with celebrity stories?

These fish are weary of their hard struggles to continue, as Satan continues to weaken their circumstances. Lack of food, love, help, shelter and safety mark them as prey. While evil kings and warlords laugh all the way to the bank. What's one more small child washing up on the shores of our greed?**

Side A must get off the shore lines and enter the match.

To Be Continued...

* Side B stands for Belial: the spirit of evil personified, which is from Satan.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
