Power (Part 7, Conclusion: Star Power)
Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
Genesis 1:16 (NKJV)
They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.
Isaiah 8:21-22 (NKJV)
Night is upon us. The lesser light rules and wandering stars have driven earth's people into darkness. But God created the stars. He gave the ultimate star power to His Son.

A new dawn rises, and once again the saving Star is Jesus: 'The Bright and Morning Star' (Revelation 22:16). 'The Sun of Righteousness' (Malachi 4:2) continues giving life to all creation.

The dark star is Satan, the 'Ruler of this world' (John 12:31). As 'The father of lies' (John 8:44), he 'Disguises himself as an angel of light' (2 Corinthians 11:14). He is 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2).

Today, the power of the air is entertainment. With Satan as its prince, wandering stars sing in the night skies of media. Through an air-born enchantment, fans walk zombie-like into a worldwide web. Their focus? American idols. In ignorance, they even 'Sacrificed their children to their idols' (Ezekiel 23:39).

Consider three scriptures: 1) 'Power belongs to God' (Psalm 62:11), 2) God gives conditional power to Satan; the devil affirms it: 'It has been handed over to me, and I can give it to whomever I choose' (Luke 4:6), 3) Jesus the Man admits, 'I can of myself do nothing' (John 5:30). Evidently, man alone has no power.

Therefore, I believe all power comes from one of two sources: God or Satan. It's a frightening thought, but one that must be considered by actors, models, and talent for Christ. Your enemy is not dark stars, networks, programmers, or media moguls. It's the prince of the air.

But the King of truth has issued an overriding decree: He will reap where He did not sow. He did not sow this worldwide web, but He will reap within it. The harvest field is media, and God's stars have been called to shine His light within it. To help those who are lost.

'To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me' (Acts 26:18). That's star power, and His cast includes actors, models, and talent for Christ.

'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it' (John 1:5).

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
