Promises & Blessings: Who's Your Daddy?
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.
Galatians 3:29 (NASB)
May the Lord, the God of your fathers, increase you a thousand-fold more than you are and bless you, just as He has promised you!
Deuteronomy 1:29 (NASB)
Even today, in some parts of the world, the first question asked of a stranger is...

'Who's your father?'

Growing up in the South, I heard it, too. But this 'Who's your daddy?' stuff offended the modern woman I aspired to be. I saw my life in one small dimension.

Our perfect Father sees infinity. The past, present and future of each child is a multi-generational view.

God's plans go from the beginning of time until its spectacular conclusion. In His infinite mercy, He allows us to break generational curses and receive generational blessings. Like the blessings He gave to Abraham.

By adoption through the Blood of Jesus, Abraham is our grandest grandfather: God's pioneer and patriarch of faith. We're marvelously adopted children of Abraham by the New Covenant.

'But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter' (Romans 2:29). Therein, God's promises to Abraham apply to us, too. To name just a few:

'And I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you, I will curse' (Genesis 12:2-3). 'I am a shield to you. Your reward shall be very great' (v.15:1). 'You shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age' (v.15:15).

Our inheritance is wondrous and TRUE!

## Promises & Blessings: Who's Your Daddy? (Part 2)

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
