Proverbs For Performers: Bad Fights? Don't Go There
The violence of the wicked will destroy them,
Because they refuse to do justice.
Proverbs 21:7 (NKJV)
Do not say, 'I will do to him just as he has done to me...'
Proverbs 24:29 (NKJV)
Fighting and violence cause men to bleed, so consider how God regards blood.

To the Inventor of all creation, blood embodies the force of life itself. It marked covenants and sacrifices. It distinguished God's people as unique from all the other peoples of the world. A respect for blood showed respect for God, from Abraham's day until Jesus.

Because to sacrifice what is precious, to recognize its kinship to the heart, stimulates a bleed-out of selfishness and a revitalizing transfusion - with the cleansing, atoning Blood of Christ. For all of these reasons and many more, blood should not be devalued, but it is.

Monstrous assassins enjoy blood-letting. Wars, gangs and abominations abound.

Violence on TV makes blood look cheap, expendable and even alluring. Millions are drawn to attractive vampires or the shows of bull, cock and dog fighting. Modern gladiators fill theaters with far more cheering fans than ancient Rome.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Reconsider the redeeming Blood of God's Own Son, Who hung on a Cross. Because through It, you've been forgiven, and you've received everlasting life.

Reconsider the indifference of Americans to blood and gore, because Hollywood embraces them as acceptable entertainment.

The Lord told us to fight the good fight, but He warns us away from bad fights, like vengeance, blood sports and sick stories.

'For the life of the flesh is in the blood' (Leviticus 17:11, NKJV), 'For we know Him Who said, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay' ' (Hebrews 10:30, NKJV), 'For In Him we have redemption through His Blood' (Ephesians 1:7, NKJV),..

To overcome Satan 'Because of the Blood of the Lamb and because of the Word' (Revelation 12:11, NASB) of our testimonies, 'To shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His Own Blood' (Acts 20:28, NASB),

'To Him Who loves us and released us from our sins by His Blood--and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father--to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen' (Revelation 1:5-6, NASB).

## Proverbs For Performers: Bad Fights? Don't Go There (Part 90)

NOTE: This is a republished edit of a 2016 devotion series, 'Proverbs For Performers.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Proverbs For Performers series.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
