IF you continue in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine...
IF you love Me, you will keep My Commandments.
I believe salvation will come by faith and calling upon the Name of Jesus. I believe Jesus is the Door to God and Heaven's Gate through Whom all men must pass. I believe small kids get there regardless. I believe outsiders will have their chance. I believe His prodigals will come home. I believe Jews will meet Him in the end.
I believe America's churches house (but don't rouse) countless cultural Christians, who practice customs without commitment... and baby believers tucked in tightly, maintained on sweet treats from pleasing pastors. While babies can't fight as God's warriors, they're still saved because of genuine faith. I believe in last-minute conversions, evidenced by the sinner on the cross.*
But for the Lord's multi-year followers, those with the Way, means and time to grow up, those commanded to carry their crosses, those destined to example His lifestyle, those called to go as His ambassadors, they need to know we serve an IF...Then God.**
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Your calling to lead through media requires maturity in your walk. God's guarantees are conditional. Not only in the Book of Proverbs, nor just in the Old Testament Laws, but pretty much cover to cover... His Promises require performance. But that's your specialty, isn't it?
And for Christians who ignore the If's--then His gifts may be off the table.

NOTE: This is a republished edit of a 2016 devotion series, 'Proverbs For Performers.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Proverbs For Performers series.
