Proverbs For Performers: Creatures Great And Small*
A righteous man regards the life of his animal.
Proverbs 12:10 (NKJV)
For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him Who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Romans 8:19-21 (NKJV)
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
Okay, so I'm an animal lover: notably dogs.* To me, they're delightful. Certainly, I'm grieved when pets are abused, but my grief extends to all creation, including the parts meant for our tables. God intended us to be consumers, but we weren't directed to be callous.

If God counts the life of every sparrow,**

If every snowflake is one of a kind,
If He delights in the work of His Hands,
If He made daisies, poppies and roses,
Mountain vistas, rolling meadows and seas,
Coconut trees, honey-hived bees and crops,
Leaping dolphins, wobbling penguins and whales,
Soaring eagles, strutting peacocks and doves,
Caterpillars that become butterflies,
Delightful cubs that become jungle kings,
And tiny seeds that become massive trees...

If our assignment to carry Good News is meant to cover all of creation, then why are we so arrogantly smug?

So proud in our superior giftings?
So cruel in the nimbleness of our hands?
So thoughtless in our roles as caretakers of the life forms God entrusted to us?***

Actors, models and talent for Christ: In your position as examples on the platforms of entertainment, being kind to people is crucial. Being kind to animals is wise. Hollywood celebrities embrace environmental activism: treating all of creation rightly. Perhaps they don't know God like you do, but you share a common interest.

Like when Jesus sat at Jacob's Well and discussed thirst with an outsider, joint concerns start great conversations. Great conversations sometimes become doorways to the greatest conversions.****

## Proverbs For Performers: Creatures Great And Small (Part 52)

* Previous Devotion: Animal Lovers:

** 'Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered' (Matthew 10:29-30).

*** Short article: What does it mean that God gave humanity dominion over the animals?

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
