Proverbs For Performers (Part 44)
Having The Right Team
Where there is no guidance the people fall,

But in abundance of counselors there is victory.

Proverbs 11:14 (NASB)
Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained.
Proverbs 29:18 (NASB)
Actors, models and talent for Christ, while the team of God plus you comes first, you also need trusted counselors: mature saints with vision and virtue. But now you're called to build a new team: fellow performers who love the Lord.

So let's consider each of these teams: 1) Your relationship with your Maker (without which all others may crumble). 2) Your personal mentors and small group (without which holding the course is hard). 3) Your teammates called to entertainment (without which countless kids have suffered).

Your Captain also had three circles. The smallest was with God, His Father. The next was with Peter, James and John. The largest was the twelve, plus close friends. Try to model your circles by His, especially the first one with God. Next choose the few with the biggest faith: people with whom you can trust your dreams.

Last would be your greater church circle. Get into prayer before this pledge. Even then, don't disclose everything. Because church can lift or lower you, fire up your passion or dampen it, embrace your calling or deny it. Don't join because it's popular. Indeed, that mark may be the wrong mark.*

Allow no one but God to stop you, because lost lambs are being slaughtered. How?

Without good guides, bad guides step forward. Without good vision, people perish. Emptiness is a void to be filled. When Christians shunned modern media, when they ignored or denounced its stars, when they refused to go to the world, the world elected a charming king. Satan smiled and accepted the job.

In the abundance of your rising (because entertainment is immense), God promises a great victory. Jesus sealed the deal and signed in Blood. If Isaiah 60 addresses the breadth and brightness of your rising, Isaiah 59 sets the stage: 'When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him' (Isaiah 59:19).

Is the enemy flooding our homes? Undeniably, without ceasing. Are performers for Christ now rising? Undeniably and with favor.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
