Proverbs For Performers (Part 46)
He who sows righteousness gets a true reward.
He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life...
The righteous will flourish like the green leaf...
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life...
The righteous will be rewarded in the earth...
The root of the righteous will not be moved.
Proverbs 11:18-19, 28, 30, 31 (NASB)
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3 (NASB)
Righteousness is not just a Proverbs theme. It's a mandate for believers mentioned almost 600 times in the Bible.* But for men to be good, proper and just without God's help is impossible. As in 'There is none righteous, no, not one' (Romans 3:10).**
'Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins' (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
A select group of 'Before Christ' heroes are described as righteous, just or blameless, based on their faith and commitment to God.*** But God had a plan to cover our sins with the righteousness of His only Son. True faith in Him wipes our filthy files clean.****
I believe in order to keep them clean we must follow and obey this same Son. If God compares our righteousness to trees, if trees need sunlight to grow big and strong, if a lack of sunlight can stunt their growth, is our church wide open to Jesus Christ? Or do rules and roofs block the connection?
Actors, models and talent for Christ: God has planted you in media to become fruitful, uncovered trees. Growing in the 'Sun of righteousness' (Malachi 4:2),***** your lovely branches cover the earth. Shooting skyward north, south, east and west, you reach fields sown by the enemy: 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2).
Communication technology was built by him for you to take flight: not away from men, but toward them. Revealing the righteousness of Christ on stages and screens of deep darkness, you give fans a fair chance and clear choice.
You're not just screen snapshots of Jesus, you're real-time ambassadors for Christ. The kindness of your off-stage actions is but one of your nine dazzling fruits.******
