Proverbs For Performers (Part 48)
God's Banking System*
There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more,

And there is one who withholds what is justly due,

And yet it results only in want.

The generous man will be prosperous,

And he who waters will himself be watered.
Proverbs 11:24-25 (NASB)
Money is like a disappearing rope. I've known people with endless lengths of it, but when they were asked to help pull a load, they just couldn't seem to find it at all. They were worried about having enough and tied themselves to bucking bull markets.

On the other end of the magic trick, I've know people who seemed to have nothing. But when they were asked to help pull a load, they would find a supply out of nowhere. They didn't fret about making ends meet and always remained pleasantly packaged.

If we can't know everything about God, how can we discern His banking system? The one where the more we give of ourselves, then by Him the more we get for ourselves: where giving away brings back abundance, where tithing and helping other people is like throwing out a giant lasso...

When we pull it in, it's filled with bounty. Because God's accounting is not like ours. He loves to make something out of nothing.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You give yourself to a starving world. Even if it seems fat and sassy, it's nothing more than gristle and bones caught in a whirlwind of heartlessness. Blowing around are lots of people. They're hoping for a hand out and up. They're trying and buying and dying to find fullness and purpose in life.

The gift of your time and His talents will not just revive those tossed and torn, but bring you a royal ROI,** guaranteed by none other than God.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
