Proverbs For Performers (Part 5)
The Calling: To Heed
Because I called and you refused,
I stretched out My Hand and no one paid attention;
And you neglected all My Counsel
And did not want My reproof;
I will also laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your dread comes,
When your dread comes like a storm
And your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
Then they will call on Me, but I will not answer;
They will seek Me diligently but they will not find Me...
Proverbs 1:24-28 (NASB)
The Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
2 Chronicles 15:2 (NASB)
I'm worried when Christians consider the Lord God as a short order cook, His church as a fast food restaurant, His Word as a sweetened bite of bread, His Son as a hanging piece of art, His Spirit as a delicate breeze, His Orders as needing our updates...
His Directions as just suggestions, His leaders as bling-king millionaires, His locations as gated and locked, our self-righteousness as justified, our attendance as occasional, our worldliness as acceptable, and our desires as menu items...
Because God won't be taken lightly. The Creator has cooked up a plan as the Master Chef for every age. His church is a mobile smorgasbord, His Word is the fullest of flavors, His Son is our living Example, His Spirit is a heart-stirring Flame, His Orders are perfect and timely...
His Directions are royal Mandates, His leaders are most humble servants, His locations are always open, our righteousness is an illusion, our attendance isn't optional, our worldliness is detestable, and our desires for sugary treats...
Should God deliver them to spoiled kids, who haven't eaten His Last Supper?
Actors, models and talent for Christ: God calls you to represent His Son, but you must abide in Him full-time. You must heed His call, Word and Orders. And not just once, when you're born again... but with increasing maturity grown through vigilant discipleship.
Because to neglect or forsake Him, carelessly or intentionally, is to abandon your own Lifeline.
