Proverbs For Performers (Part 8)
Treasures: To Pursue
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom
And the man who gains understanding.
For her profit is better than the profit of silver
And her gain better than fine gold.
She is more precious than jewels;
And nothing you desire compares with her.
Proverbs 3:13-15 (NASB)
Your Word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You...
I have rejoiced in the way of Your Testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
Psalm 119:11,14 (NASB)
Satan defines wealth in things we can see: money and material possessions, like gold, silver, clothing and jewelry; cars, boats, land, houses and electronics; even grand churches and fancy artwork. We want to grasp them with our hands and eyes. We like to compare and examine them. We strategize for their acquisition.
Modern media was born and exists through the promotion of idol worship. Sheep-like consumers search for leadership, seeking someone and something to follow. They're like lambs led to the merchandisers: wizards who convince them how they should live and what they should purchase to be happy. But their promises fail to satisfy.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Lead your fans to true wealth in Jesus. Leave a breadcrumb trail of precious gems, like love, joy, peace, patience and kindness; goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. Add in the rare pearl of self-control. Because these jewels are seldom seen, expect surprised and grateful glances.
But in order to share such assets, you must increase your personal wealth. Therefore, go directly to God's bank. Take no detours through man's mirages. Go for the gold He puts in His Word. The Book of Proverbs is one such Place. Consider the value of God's wisdom (available just for the asking).
In the costly trials of this life, God puts His money where His Mouth is.
