The Book of Proverbs talks a lot about how to discipline children properly. I haven't seen God advising time-outs, but He's strong on corporal punishment. Still, many people don't see it that way. In parts of the world and right here at home, spankings seem wrong, parents are arrested and Christian children are snatched from their homes.
Regarding the raising of my grandkids, who are filled with love, pip and willfulness, my daughters and sons-in-law heed God's Word. Because we see the Word of God this way: We either believe 100%, or if not, we become His editors, as if we're qualified to judge the Lord. 'But other people wrote It,' you might say. I say God can control what's in His Book.
Regarding U.S. kids in general, who are wooed by media and its stars, they're believing fictional fairy tales. They highlight narcissistic self-interest, where the focus is on looks, loot and lust, where service is what we get, but don't give, where superficial molds sacrificial into a small cross we wear on our necks.
If the Lord Himself rebukes, 'Chastens and scourges every son whom He receives' (Hebrews 12:6), then how can we not love similarly? What if caring, corporal punishment sends troublesome demons away from our kids? Caring, as in loving, but not angry.*
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Read what God says about discipline. Regarding His children we steward, I believe a supernatural tie exists between controlled spanking and crushing Satan under our feet.**
To Be Continued...
* Spanking in anger should not be done. If a parent is angry over a child's misbehavior, said parent should pray and get calm before punishment begins, which will give said child time to reflect on what happened and what's coming.
** This supernatural tie is my opinion of the work collaboration between God and parents regarding the raising, protection and discipline of their children, which are fundamentally His children.
** 'The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you' (Romans 6:20).
** 'Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you' (Luke 10:19).
