Proverbs For Performers (Part 89)
Warriors? Don't Faint
If you faint in the day of adversity,
Your strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV)
Beat your plowshares into swords
And your pruning hooks into spears;
Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'
Joel 3:10 (NKJV)
Put on your strength, O Zion.
Isaiah 52:1 (NKJV)
Our most glorious, valorous warriors, the ones who excel in heroic acts, don't fight boldly in the absence of fear. They fight boldly in the presence of fear. Because heroism boils down to one big decision that separates men from boys: when others turn back, heroes continue.
When it's hard to go, they go anyway. When no one else stands, they stand anyway. When God seems absent, they trust anyway. When mockers scorn them, they hope anyway. When friends betray them, they love anyway. Heroes don't give up. Instead, they look up.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: The dark empire of entertainment has become the enemy's stronghold. With countless deafening megaphones, with horror movies that roll non-stop, with with big-screen dramas that sit us down, with small-screen action that draws us in...
With greedy merchants always baiting, with shameless hookers always fishing, with lovely lookers always teasing, with brutal villains filling the news, with our toughest guys in comic books, have we become sitters and watchers, whose biggest moves happen on treadmills?
Whose biggest faith happens on Sundays? Are we praying up to stay comfy? Are we buffing up to walk proudly? Are we speeding up to go nowhere?
Actors, models and talent for Christ, you're cast as honest-to-God heroes. Your Commission and strength come from Him. Your talent and resolve are fearsome. Your uprising astounds the devil, 'And the gates of Hades will not overcome it' (Matthew 16:18).
Yes, Satan thought he owned media. But what he intended for our harm, 'God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives' (Genesis 50:20).
Therefore, 'Be strong and of good courage' (Joshua 1:9). 'Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He Who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you' (Deuteronomy 20:3-4).
