Proverbs For Performers: Paving A Highway*
But the way of the upright is a highway...
The way of life winds upward for the wise.
Proverbs 15:19, 24 (NKJV)
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
Proverbs 16:17 (NKJV)
Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!
Isaiah 62:10 (NKJV)
Set up signposts, Make landmarks; Set your heart toward the highway...
Jeremiah 31:21 (NKJV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Your casting call to be 'Living Stones' (1 Peter 2:5, NKJV), bright chips from the 'Everlasting Rock' (Isaiah 26:4, NKJV), standing upon 'The Chief Cornerstone' (Acts 4:11, NKJV)...

In an age when men worship rock stars as if they were saviors (but they're not)... was preordained from the beginning.

While you're seen as His 'Royal priesthood' (1 Peter 2:9, NKJV), don't get caught up in celebrity. Because you're also His laborers, brought from all over the world for an international building project: the construction of a new highway to cover and connect earth's people. It's an elevated, super-speed, culturally-relevant roadway.

'The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
A highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away' (Isaiah 35:7-11, NKJV).

Actors, models and talent for Christ, don't let cloistered Christians dissuade you. Build God's communication highway with talent and determination, that others may rise and walk with you.

NOTE: This is a republished edit of a 2016 devotion series, 'Proverbs For Performers.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Proverbs For Performers series.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
