If wisdom is the principal thing, tied to knowledge and understanding, all of which are treasures beyond price,* this godly trio starts with wisdom. Please note wisdom's starting point: the heart! As in, 'Wisdom will enter your heart.'
If we think wisdom comes from study (reading books upon books upon books), or observing the men around us (intently watching human nature) or listening to great professors from the world's best universities, then we're not thinking like Solomon.**
'Such 'wisdom' does not come down from heaven, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic' (James 3:15, NIV).***
Because godly wisdom comes from God, entering the heart before the head, subsequent to a humble request. 'If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him' (James 1:5, NKJV).
Actors, models and talent for Christ: You need to be wise performers, because media is confusing: evil looks good and good looks boring.**** Navigation through polluted air requires both wisdom and protection.*****
But here's something extraordinary: your executive marching Orders call you not just to godly wisdom, but also to industry wisdom.
In other words, learn to be cunning. 'Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves' (Matthew 10:16, NKJV).
So be wise, savvy and innocent. Can you act in all three ways at once? Under the guidance of Jesus, yes!

## Proverbs For Performers: Wisdom's Acquisition (Part 8)
NOTE: This is a republished edit of a 2016 devotion series, 'Proverbs For Performers.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Every disciple in every field performs for Christ. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Proverbs For Performers series.
