Psalm 37: Hearing From Heaven (Part 7)
Good Actions: God's Reactions
He shall give you the desires of your heart... And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
Psalm 37:4-6 (NKJV)
Who doesn't dream about God's blessings? Like success, exceeding abundance and overflowing storehouses; Like peace and protection; Like a good story with a happy ending. I do, and so should you. We should not only dream about them, but also expect them to chase us down and overtake us.*

In His Word, God gives us hundreds of wonderful promises--including a tree of life in a city of gold. Praise God! He always keeps His Word. 'Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (Numbers 23:19); 'For He Who promised is faithful' (Hebrews 10:23); 'For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us' (2 Corinthians 1:20).

More than any good father is the perfect Father, 'Who delights in the prosperity of His servant' (Psalm 35:27). But there's a catch: we serve an 'If... then...' God. Although His love is unconditional, His blessings are not. Our good actions must precede His good reactions. He's a tough love God, but the love part is far greater!

All of the blessings in Psalm 37 revolve around one Word God repeats six times in six ways: inheritance (v.9,11,18,22,29,34). 'The meek shall inherit the earth' (Psalm 37:11). Jesus reaffirms it in Matthew 5:5.

By humility, faith and patience, if we obey God's Word, if we love Him and those He sets before us, then we inherit all that He possesses--as His beloved heirs. Regardless of circumstances that temporarily surround us, we will win.

'The meek shall inherit the earth,And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace...

The Lord upholds the righteous. The Lord knows the days of the upright,And their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time,And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied...

For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth...

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,And He delights in his way.Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His Hand...

And his descendants are blessed...

And dwell forevermore. For the Lord loves justice,And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever...

The righteous shall inherit the land,And dwell in it forever...

None of his steps shall slide. The wicked watches the righteous,And seeks to slay him.The Lord will not leave him in his hand,Nor condemn him when he is judged...

Wait on the Lord,And keep His way,And He shall exalt you to inherit the land' (Psalm 37:11,17-19,22,23-24,26,27-28,29,31-33,34)

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
