Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner.
You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed because of the truth.
The Lord their God will save them in that day, as the flock of His people. For they shall be like the jewels of a crown, lifted like a banner over His land.
Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, build up the highway! Take out the stones, lift up a banner for the peoples!
On 21st century highways, banner ads are billboards. On B.C. highways, banners ads were flags. Consider it:
'The word rendered 'banner' means properly anything elevated or lifted up... Here it doubtless refers to the flag, the banner, the standard of an army; and the idea is that God had committed such a standard to His people that they might go forth as soldiers in His cause. They were enlisted in His service, and were fighting His battles.'
'That it may be displayed because of the truth - In the cause of truth; or, in the defense of justice and right. It was not to be displayed for vain parade or ostentation; it was not to be unfolded in an unrighteous or unjust cause; it was not to be waved for the mere purpose of carrying desolation, or of securing victory; it was that a righteous cause might be vindicated, and that the honor of God might be promoted' (Barnes Notes on the Bible).*
Actors, models and talent for Christ: in this 21st century, you are God's banner ads. You are His walking billboards. You are 'The jewels of a crown, lifted like a banner over His land.' You carry the Truth, Who is Jesus.
As it was then, dark times are upon us. As it is now, media is the world's highway. As it never has been, messages travel at the speed of light--to millions in one moment.
Today's key Scriptures reveal your key duty: multiply God's talents by investing them in the banks of media. The placement of your billboard is God's decision: Home Town Street, University Avenue, Hollywood Boulevard--or Broadway.
Key decisions? 1) Deciding for Whom or whom you stand. 2) Placing yourself in a position to be elevated.
