Public Relations (Part 15)
The Triumph Of Jesus
Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the Cross.
Colossians 2:15 (NIV)
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8 (NKJV)
So that by His death He might break the power of him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil.
Hebrews 2:14 (NIV)
Take heart! I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 (NIV)
The greatest military victory the world has ever known came from the greatest act of humility the world would ever see: Jesus on a Cross. It was a coup: 'A sudden appropriation of leadership or power; A brilliantly executed stratagem' (American Heritage Dictionary).

Death was captured. The Captain of salvation carried it down the street and up the hill. He lifted it high for all the people to see. In the process, our Hero took some hits and we thought He was gone. In reality, the loser was not Jesus, but Satan--and his loss was devastating.

Because Jesus disarmed him. He took Satan's weapon of mass destruction and sealed it in a tomb. Three days later, the Truth came out: 'He is risen' (Matthew 28:6). Isaiah predicted it: 'He will swallow up death forever' (Isaiah 25:8). Paul confirmed it: 'Death is swallowed up in victory' (1 Corinthians 15:54).

But to live by this Truth, one mandate remains: faith. We must trust in the King to fly by His Wing. We must believe in His win to lose our own sin. We must follow His path to escape Satan's wrath.

If we refuse to see the Life-Maker and live by His Law, we're left with the life-taker to die by his claw. For reasons only God fully comprehends, the devil still 'Walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour' (1 Peter 5:8).

For God's faithful elect, he is leashed. We may face his fury, but not his fangs. 'Oh Death, where is your sting?' (1 Corinthians 15:55).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: walking forward in the triumph of Jesus is your destiny. Flying high on the airwaves of media is your delight. Kneeling low in the sincerity of faith is your defense. Gaining increase in the talents you hold is your duty.

By your example, millions will rise up in prayer to God--who would fall down as prey for Satan.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
