Public Relations (Part 16)
Onward Christian Soldiers
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV)
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.*
Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 2:3 (NKJV)
For the Lord your God is He Who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
Deuteronomy 20:4 (NKJV)
Onward, Christian Soldiers is a 19th-century hymn originally written as a children's processional. Since we must 'Become as little children' (Matthew 18:3) to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, since our children fall as earth's most tragic victims, Onward, Christian Soldiers seems a fitting battle anthem.**

Who are Christian soldiers? We are. Whom do we fight? 'Spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places' (Ephesians 6:12). Why them? Because Jesus changed the terms of engagement.

When He made us clean enough to carry God's Holy Spirit, He enabled legions of men to fight in the big war. Because the big war is not against men, but against him--as in Satan.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: as messengers in His armed forces, consider your division to be Public Relations. From the beginning, it was important, but our 21st century heralds the rise of an elite new wing of high speed fighter pilots: you.

Your assignment? To fly in the dark skies of media and bring light: 'For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; But the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you' (Isaiah 60:2). That's you: the glory guys. Fighter pilots are stars.

They are talented, bold and brave. They are leaders of men who smile in the face of danger--like God: 'The Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming' (Psalm 37:13).

But instead of shooting bullets and missiles, you're shooting good news and missives (official letters). What could be more official than a letter from God?

Actors, models and talent for Christ: 'You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone' (2 Corinthians 3:2). For such a time as this, fulfill your destiny. Herald the call. Rise to action and fly high.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the Cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle see his banners go!

(Refrain): Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the Cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

(Refrain)

Like a mighty army moves the church of God; Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

(Refrain)

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the church of Jesus constant will remain.Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

(Refrain)

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,This through countless ages men and angels sing.
