Radiance (Part 4)
Glowing In The Dark
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:5 (NAS)
You yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness...
Romans 2:19 (NAS)
For God, Who said, 'Light shall shine out of darkness,' is the One Who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the Face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6 (NAS)
For you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NAS)
Because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.
1 John 2:8 (NAS)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: You move like a glow stick in the grip of a dancer. You stand like a lighthouse to a storm-tossed sea.* You seek like a search light the imprisoned and the lost. You travel like the truth on the screen of a phone.

You humble yourself like a candle in the hand of a child. God exalts you like a star in His Hand as Creator. You explode like a fireworks display to cover the earth--landing in homes, schools, theaters and hearts. Sparks ignite, eyes open and people begin to wonder: Who are you?

You not only reflect the Sun, you carry the Son, because God's Holy Spirit lives within you. Some will fear you and flee. Others will hate you and mock. But even more will be drawn to the Light you carry.

If radiance is about radiating, as in moving, flying and spreading, then God's stars need to move, fly and spread into all the world by way of media--especially to the dark parts, because in darkness light shines best. The result?

'The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them' (Isaiah 9:2). Because God says, 'I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know I will guide them. I will make darkness into light before them' (Isaiah 42:16).

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You are that light.

You are God's communication task force. You are His missionaries assigned to the fields of arts and entertainment. For Him to stamp your entry papers, you need a pre-packed and security-checked suitcase of talent, humility, faith and courage. In this case, branding is important. Invest in God's luggage. It's marked with two P's--as in patience and persistence. It will stand the test of time.

But God has an additional job requirement for His future stars. Consider it part of your visa: ready for display at any time: 'If you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness...' (Isaiah 58:10). The hungry and afflicted are your fans and fans-to-be.

Summary: ' 'Teacher, which is the great Commandment in the Law?' '

'Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great Commandment. And the second is like It: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets' ' (Matthew 22:36-40). By this, you glow in the dark.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
