Recession Redefined
Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming?'
2 Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV)
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:44 (NKJV)
'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth' (Genesis 1:1). 'The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein' (Psalm 24:1). Therefore, we can rightfully say that our earth belongs to its Creator, the Living God.

One day sin entered; a 'War broke out in Heaven' (Revelation 12:7), and 'That serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth' (Revelation 12:9).

Even today, 'The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one' (1 John 5:19), but not Christ; 'I have overcome the world' (John 16:33). Nor His followers; 'Because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world' (1 John 4:4). But for everyone else, for everyone who does not know Christ, we fight.

How does recession fit into this war?

Our common definition of recession is one of economic decline. We're there.

'It's clear that the trillions of dollars borrowed and printed by the government are masking an extremely weak financial condition that has been in a downward spiral for many years. Calling it a recession instead of a depression doesn't change the stark reality: today's recession tops the Great Depression' (Forbes, October 2011).

'The door is closing... if we don't change direction now on how we use energy, we will end up beyond what scientists tell us is the minimum. The door will be closed forever' (Fatih Birol, Chief Economist at the International Energy Agency).

A less common definition of recession is this one: 'A return of ownership to a former possessor' (Random House Dictionary), or 'the act of ceding back to a former possessor' (Merriam-Webster Dictionary).

Earth's former possessor is its Creator, God. We know Jesus defeated Satan. We know where he ends: 'The lake of fire' (Revelation 20:10). And we know earth is returned to God. We're close.

How does this affect actors, models, and talent for Christ? Your mission to present a true image of Jesus Christ here and now, at 'Such a time as this' (Esther 4:14), a time when 'Darkness covers the earth' (Isaiah 60:2), is vital.
