Recession: Satan's Play Period (Part 2)
School Dropouts
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1 Timothy 6:9 (NKJV)
If our current earth is intended by God to be a School of Wisdom... if He gave us school rules through Moses that we continue to break... if He sent His Own Son to simplify the rules, pay our tuition, and lead those of us who would follow Him to an amazing graduation...

If God knows His School is hard... if He plans recess breaks for pure laughter... if Satan was a top administrator who got a big head... if he was fired from Wisdom School because he started a riot... if Satan now wears a Versace business suit, then Satan is doing everything is his power to get God's children to follow him.

Away from school and into trouble.

Satan's greatest tool today? The media. We are tempted away from Wisdom School by shows, stars, and lifestyles of the rich and famous. In trying to live Satan's definition of recess, we spend beyond our means and fall into recession: an inexplicable chain of causes and effects that no man can break.

Jesus describes the mood of today when we see 'Men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth' (Luke 21:26).

Millions of people seek relief from their fears of financial failure with media fixes. Our choices are endless, as are its clever devices. Fellowship has fallen into a phone that sits in our pocket. Friendship has fallen into a shiny black screen.

We've forgotten about Wisdom School because of our focus on recess. But our break isn't fun anymore. We've broken our world. Recess has become recession.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
