Know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
What is cold love? Could it be love from a stone-cold heart?* Is this ailment prevalent in the world, but featured in Hollywood? The prophetic Words of Jesus in Matthew 24 (NKJV) stand in a section of Scripture called 'The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age.' **
When I researched this devotion, I read a different sign of the times--specifically 'The Los Angeles Times.' I clicked on the entertainment section to discover a different gospel. It is called: 'Ministry of Gossip: The Gospel On Celebrity And Pop Culture.' Articles included:
'Fifty Shades of Grey' fans rally against casting decisions: Apparently, more than 60,000 fans of the erotic romance novel weren't imagining (certain) actors as their B&D-loving (characters) in the upcoming adaptation of the book.'
'James Franco appeals for supporting actor Oscar nod with raunchy campaign: The ad: Franco in character, gripping two Oscar statuettes and sandwiched by bikini-clad actresses, with unprintable text asking voters to "Consider this ... " '
'Lamar Odom gets treatment after DUI arrest: Wife Khloe Kardashian reportedly hasn't spoken to him since she told him to choose between rehab or a divorce.'
'Kanye West criticized for private performance in Kazakhstan: The notoriously vocal rapper has remained mum about his reported $3-million performance... for the leaders of 'a human rights wasteland.' '
'Robin Thicke accused of more than butt-grabbing: As if photo evidence of the singer palming the nether-cheeks of a woman not wearing his wedding ring wasn't complicated enough--now the recipient of his touch has claimed that Thicke got friendlier that night, detailing an alleged public make-out session.'
Actors, models and talent for Christ, this play begs your lead. While the #1 film city's #1 paper mocks the Gospel of Jesus Christ, new headlines are needed: headlines that feature actors of human kindness, as opposed to actors of human hind-ness.
Don't run from this action. Run to it, as David did to Goliath. Because Goliath proved to be nothing but a big-mouthed bully by comparison. But if you stay away from the battle, how can the bully fall? How can the comparison be made?
'How shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!' ' (Romans 10:14-15).
Samson proved that any star can have a flawless finish, so judge no one. Love everyone. Avoid struggles common to stars and act uncommonly good--on screen, but especially off.
