And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death.
Judges 16:16 (KJV)
Delilah was Samson's downfall. She worked for the enemy. She used her beauty--first to seduce him. Then, she used daily pressure with her words to get Samson to reveal the secret of his great strength: his hair.
Is anyone pressuring you to do the wrong thing? To follow the wrong path? Have you been weakened or blinded by temptation? After Samson yielded to Delilah, he lost his hair and his power. He was imprisoned and blinded. He forgot God's warning.
Let us be careful of the company we keep. Let us turn our backs on friends and loved ones who tempt us to sin. God forbid anyone press us daily with wrong words, because 'death and life are in the power of the tongue' (Proverbs 18:21).
In the entertainment industry, we meet many Delilahs: beautiful people with deadly plans-those who would seduce us for personal gain. What's a God-loving performer to do? Didn't Jesus tell us to go into all the world, including Hollywood?
Yes! But becoming God's ambassador, being a talent emissary does not mean intimacy with non-believers. Jesus taught, 'Who is My mother and who are My brothers? And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, 'Behold My mother and My brothers!'' (Matthew 12:48-49).
Like the Good Samaritan, be a friend to all. However, learn from Samson's downfall. Share your innermost thoughts only with those who are true disciples of Christ.
