Satan's Spoilers: Fear
Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him Who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28 (NKJV)
Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'
Joel 3:10 (NKJV)
Fear is the middle-man in a death squad. Other members of his hellish team are Doubt, Worry, Anxiety and Terror.

Their goal? To tie us down, strip us bare, and keep us cowering- not conquering.

Feeling fear in danger is natural. It heightens our senses so we react quickly, forcefully and effectively. The problem comes when we don't act at all: when fear stops us in our God-given tracks.

So what should we do when fear stares us down? Look up to God and run straight toward it. Like David with a stone in a slingshot. Our Rock is Jesus, so we hurl The Word! Hurl? Yes, toward Satan and his legions.

Because His Word is a bullet-proof vest, the ones backing down are Satan's bullies. 'For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword' (Hebrews 4:12). In Him, we walk through demonic strongmen.

Consider God's advice to Joshua, when major wars loomed in his horizon. God's command? 'Be strong and of good courage' (Joshua 1:6,7,9).

Therefore, Joshua moved beyond his fears. He marched through them into the Promised Land. Like actors, models and talent for Christ in the land of promises (media).

The result?

'Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you... No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you' (Joshua 1:3,5).

## Satan's Spoilers: Fear

P.S. The only good fear is fear of the Lord.

'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom' (Psalm 111:10); 'In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence' (Proverbs 14:26); 'The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life' (Proverbs 14:27). The blessings of properly revering the Lord of all creation are countless.

NOTE: This is a 2021 update of a 2011 Carey Lewis Devotion. You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players. Mostly true. But you're not merely players. You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
