Secretaries And Assistants
Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble.
Romans 12:16 (NIV)
Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.
Numbers 12:3 (NAS)
Jesus was a carpenter. David was a shepherd. Joseph was a slave and a convict. But today, we find it difficult to recall that stars, heroes, and decision-makers often rise from humble positions.
Read an AMTC actor's audition story, as told to me by his mom.
'My son drove from college to the audition and planned to arrive two hours early. He had problem upon problem along the way--as if forces conspired to keep him from the casting. Yet he was determined. He got there just in time and went into his audition feeling a little flustered.
The audition was different from anything he had done, and the first part, consisting of personal questions, surprised him. He thought his answers could have been better. Then he read. He felt good about his read, but he couldn't tell if the casting directors liked him.
He did spend some quality time with the receptionist while he was waiting. They struck up a conversation about a common interest in a mission field overseas. He later found out that the receptionist was the casting director's daughter. Did she put in a good word?'
You never know who is connected to whom, and God's instructions on kindness and humility are clear... so be nice to everyone--especially those the world might label as 'less important.'
Ben Davies won his first starring role that day in the Sherwood Studios movie, Courageous.
