Self-Examination 2020: Eyes, Binoculars
He who watches the wind will not sow and he who looks at the clouds will not reap.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NASB)
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)
And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.'
Mark 16:15 (NKJV)
Then I heard the Voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)
Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
James 4:17 (NIV)
When Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players,' God confirmed it: All of us are actors.

Before Shakespeare, Paul said, 'We are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses' (Hebrews 12:1), referring to saints who predeceased us (listed by name in Hebrews 11). In them, we have a top-flight audience.

Therefore, saints who know they are performers hold an edge over saints who sit and watch. Because God made us to be action stars:

Running the race of our lives on earth's fields,
Fighting the good fight of faith in our Lord,
Making disciples within all nations,
Preaching Good News within all creation,.
Traveling for Christ as ambassadors...
Walking behind Him in obedience,
Giving a hand up to every hand out,

Acting in exemplary behavior,
Modeling for the Master Designer,
Singing unusual songs of kindness,
Dancing in jubilant expectation,
Moving heavy mountains into the sea,
Casting out demons with authority--
And seeking lambs to shepherd them home.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: Don't reduce yourselves to spectators, because bench siting is not your style. Resist the flat-screen binoculars the enemy mass manufactures.

Go into the screens and become its stars. You're not living a simulation. You're not into vicarious thrills. You're not a saint stuck to a piece of glass.

You are rough, tough, raw, real and ready.

## Self-Examination 2020: Eyes, Binoculars (Part 14)

NOTE: This is a 2020 edit of a 2017 Shine Devotion series, 'Self-Examination.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Self-Examination 2020 series.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
