Self-Examination 2021: Back, Good Turns
Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord.
Lamentations 3:40 (NKJV)
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand... I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
Matthew 4:17, 9:13 (NKJV)
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 3:19 (NASB)
God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a Day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man Whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.
acts 17:30-31 (NASB)
My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
James 5:19-20 (NASB)
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 (NASB)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Revelation 3:19 (NKJV)
When models reach the end of the runway, they turn 180 degrees- and head back to the dressing area.

When hitters run the bases in baseball, they turn 180 degrees- and head back to score a run on home base.

When sinners become fed up with sinning, they turn 180 degrees- and head back to the One Who still loves them.

Because the best turn on earth is to God. He cast His Own Son to be our Model, as He walked out His faith- then turned to home.

He pitched a perfect game while He was here. His last hit fell upon His Own Body, but it sealed a heavenly victory.

Our Captain opened His Arms to sinners, inviting all of us to share His win, but we have to run the bases ourselves.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: a good pivot is a crucial move for everyone in the public eye. But don't let your turns be just for fans- or the managers who direct you. In mind and heart, turn to God daily.

The Bible calls this move repentance,* and His Script demands you practice it. Because sin calls out to you daily, and it's tempting to turn toward it. If and when and you do, repent again.

NOTE: This is a 2021 edit of a 2017 Shine Devotion series, 'Self-Examination.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
