Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
For who has known the Mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the Mind of Christ.
When we're in the boxing ring with Satan, when anxiety and fear throw punches, when we're reeling on the ropes* from his hits, how can the Mind of Christ deliver us? Are we too busy to consider Him, or is this the perfect time to do so?
Terror can trigger a slow-mo effect, where time slows down and awareness rises.** Suddenly, our minds become crystal clear, and we notice every tiny detail. Surely, the Mind of Christ sees everything in a clarity we can hardly know...
So how do we connect our minds to His?
By true contrition.
By real submission.
By reading His Word.
By seeking His Son.
By following Him.
By obeying Him.
By asking His will.
By speaking His Name.
By earnest prayer.
By joining with kin.
By His Own Spirit.
By inviting Him.
Actors, models and talent for Christ: No one on earth is perfect like God. Nor can our minds reach as high as His. But in His pursuit, we are transformed to think, look and act like our Teacher: glory to glory and thought to thought.
Therefore, think of Jesus frequently. Practice His walk and rehearse His Lines.
Then when Satan jumps into your space (which is certain this side of heaven), you'll be primed and ready for action. You can fight like Muhammed Ali, knocking your opponent down and out in a surprise move called rope-a-dope.*
Yes, Satan will pick more fights with you (until Jesus cancels his dance card)...
But here and now you can use His Mind to maintain an overriding peace.

NOTE: This is a 2021 edit of a 2017 Shine Devotion series, 'Self-Examination.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Self-Examination 2021 series.
