Because in God's Book, shoulders carry loads. In fact, based on what Jesus did and said, lifting large loads are holy assignments. Will they be too much for us to handle? No!
'Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, Who daily bears our burdens' (Psalm 68:19, NIV).Why must we heft heavy burdens at all?

'Uphold the weak' (1 Thessalonians 5:14, NKJV); 'When Moses' hands grew tired... Aaron and Hur held his hands up--one on one side, one on the other--so that his hands remained steady till sunset' (Exodus 17:12, NIV).What if we shrug our shoulders and refuse?
'They shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not hear... Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands' (Nehemiah 9:29-30, NKJV).Ugg
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Cameras make slim shoulders look broader, but most stars don't look as good off set. Therefore (spiritually speaking), let people see you shoulder big loads--with courage and generosity.
What fans may not catch on their first glance is the unseen God off-camera. But consider this scene's conclusion: When viewers applaud your heroics, you point them to God as your strength's Source.

NOTE: This is a 2021 edit of a 2017 Shine Devotion series, 'Self-Examination.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.
P.S. To read the other devotions in this series, please see the Self-Examination 2021 series.
