Self-Examination 2021: Wardrobe, A Soldier's Life
Let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 (NKJV)
And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
Romans 13:11-12 (NKJV)
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Make no mistake about your duty. It's to stand up and fight for your Lord on the mission fields of media. You have a double-front action plan, in terms of your soldier's combat gear:

1) Your talent, courage and excellence will get you on the physical field. Your wardrobe plan is Hollywood chic, with a personal, elegant flair. Your best never-fail weapon is love. Add in joy, peace, patience and kindness; goodness, gentleness and faithfulness. Top them off with dazzling self-control, and your naysayers will be disarmed.

2) Your commitment to follow Jesus gets you on the spiritual field, where you must put on the Lord's armor,* by speaking His Word as your Cover; It protects your vulnerable parts with impenetrable battle gear: truth, faith, righteousness and salvation. They did not fail your Captain on earth, and they will not fail you, His soldiers.*

Because your only foe is Satan. He and his kin have devious schemes to tempt, taunt and intimidate you. But remember, they cannot harm you.** So dress for success, pick up God's Sword, fight the good fight, and run your best race.

Golden crowns await the non-quitters.

NOTE: This is a 2021 edit of a 2017 Shine Devotion series, 'Self-Examination.' You may see notes to 'Actors, Models & Talent for Christ.' If you think you're not in show business, think again. Shakespeare said, 'All the world's a stage and all its men and women merely players.' Mostly true. But you're not 'merely players.' You are messengers and ambassadors for the King of kings.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
