Self-Examination (Part 33)
Mouth: Your Public Servant
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
For the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
Defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV)
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path.
Galatians 6:1 (NLT)
If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
Matthew 18:15 (NLT)
If you are called to testify about something you have seen or that you know about, it is sinful to refuse to testify, and you will be punished for your sin.
Leviticus 5:1 (NLT)
Christ was the Ultimate Public Servant. His ministry's first call was to the poor. He tended widows, servants and strangers. His second call was to the prisoners: sinners bound by Satan in various ways.* He spoke directly to them and for them. Words set up His greatest performances.

Actors, models and talent for Christ, public service needs haven't changed much. But in the world's wealthiest nations, the poverty is spiritual.** Consider how you might meet these needs:

1) Even if they look wealthy and healthy, fans are poor and don't speak for themselves. Media merchandizers prompt them, and their cons are designed to sell things. If you take the stage as role models, if you speak truth and hope without hype, you will follow your King's Example. You'll be tending to the least of these, who are spiritually starving.

2) Instead of judging sinful pagans (because you're not called to judge the world),*** you're ordered to gentle correction of your sinning kin within the church. Five of Christ's Revelation Letters and most of the Epistles from Paul show the risk in overlooking sin. Because if it remains unaddressed, it can corrupt whole congregations.

In summary, stand up and speak up. You help no one by being silent. Neither do you help by bullying. Stand on the Rock of Humility and speak His Mind just as He directs.

To Be Continued...

* 'The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to proclaim Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free' (Luke 4:18).

** 'You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked' (Revelation 3:17, NLT).

*** As the Apostle Paul said, 'What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?' (1 Corinthians 5:12).
