Self-Examination (Part 62)
Mind: Our Teacher
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My Eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8 (NASB)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
John 14:26 (NASB)
As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.
1 John 2:27 (NASB)
Jesus replied, 'All who love Me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and We will come and make Our home with each of them.'
John 14:23 (NLT)
We're told to mind our Teacher, Jesus Christ (knowing the Testimony of His Words seen through submission to His Commandments); also to example the Mind of Christ (reflecting His Thoughts, knowledge and wisdom in the twisted times of an evil world). Therein, minding our Teacher is two-fold.
'For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear' (2 Timothy 4:3).
Actors, models and talent for Christ: Countless attractive Christian teachers have written countless attractive books. Because they need to publish nice books to become stars on Christian TV. And their books are far easier reads than the strenuous Book God authored; It's hard to read and harder to do. It requires more than most want to give.
Even so, consider two lessons:
1) God's Spirit is your foremost Teacher. You don't need so and so's latest book. God said so Himself, time and again. Beware smiling, star-studded teachers who live and work in mighty castles.*
2) As God's rising stars in media, you teach best by minding your Teacher; by knowing God's Word and acting It. You teach best by your humility, because that is how your Teacher taught.
