Self-Examination (Part 90)
Back: Good Turns
Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord.

Lamentations 3:40 (NKJV)
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand... I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
Matthew 4:17, 9:13 (NKJV)
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 3:19 (NASB)
God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a Day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man Whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.

Acts 17:30-31 (NASB)
My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
James 5:19-20 (NASB)
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9 (NASB)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Revelation 3:19 (NKJV)
When models reach the end of the runway, they turn 180 degrees and head back to the dressing area. When hitters run the bases in baseball, they hope to turn back toward home and score. When some sinners get fed up with sinning, they turn 180 degrees and head back to the One Who still loves them.

Because the best turn on earth is to God. He cast His Own Son to be the Model, Who walked out His faith and headed back home. He pitched a perfect game while He was here. His last hit sealed the home team's victory. He opened His Arms wide for prodigals to repent and return to God's great love.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: a good pivot is a crucial move for everyone in the public eye. But don't let your turns be just for fans or the managers who direct you. In mind and heart, turn to God daily.

The Bible calls this move repentance,* and God's Script demands you practice it. Because sin calls out to you daily, and it's tempting to turn toward it. When and if you do, repent again.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
