Soldier's Orders (Part 3)
Junior ROTC
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God...
2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NIV)
They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.
1 Peter 4:4 (NIV)
Physically speaking, military-minded teenagers join the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. Spiritually speaking, military-minded Christian teens must do likewise. Because fighting is your destiny. You're meant for the front lines. Time has proven it: wars are powered by the passion of youth.

Adolph Hitler was the first modern warlord to run an all-out PR campaign targeting kids. Great numbers were hustled, hyped and hypnotized. The messages were terrible, and the outcome was catastrophe.

Today, the enemy who prodded Hitler to control the minds of Germany's youth is prodding media kings to control the minds of the world's youth. Because where the youth goes, nations follow.

Jr. ROTC Division of Actors, Models and Talent for Christ: 'If sinful men entice you, do not give in to them' (Proverbs 1:10). 'Do not sit with the deceitful... Refuse to sit with the wicked' (Psalm 26:4-5).

'Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person' (Proverbs 22:24), 'Leave the presence of a fool' (Proverbs 14:7), and 'Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character' (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Although I realize this is a tough order, don't submit to peer pressure. Instead, 'Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you' (James 4:7).

Even more, 'Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe' (1 Timothy 4:12).

Purity? Yes! Dare to be different. Declaring a public stance on virtue is declaring a private war on the enemy. Bring it on. You're in God's division and under His protection.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
