Soldier's Orders (Part 31)
Bold Vision
They returned from spying out the land after forty days... and said: 'We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there...'

Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, 'Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.'

But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we... The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants... and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight...'

Numbers 13:25-33 (NKJV)*
When the children of Israel left Egypt, they reached the Promised Land in good time. Twelve leaders were sent in to check it out. Ten of the twelve came back with negative reports. The saw the land was beautiful, but its owners were terrible. They were afraid.

Caleb and Joshua saw it differently. They believed an unbeatable God was with them. But majority ruled, God got angry and Moses got stuck with a stubborn congregation for 40 years. Enough time for every adult male to die, save two bold visionaries: Caleb and Joshua. Enough time for God to raise a new generation of heroes.

Fast forward to the age of entertainment. American media is now the Land of Promises, ruled by 'The prince of the power of the air' (Ephesians 2:2). It began in the 20th century with silent films. But in 1927, mouths were opened and lines were spun, eventually to form a worldwide web. It charmed, chained and chumped earth's people.

As the Land of Promises grew, so did its army. Kings of con raised stars of cinema. Legions worked for the kings and millions worshipped their idols. They became like giants. When the church realized the power held by the kings, they shunned the Land of Promises. They were afraid.

Actors, models and talent for Christ: You are a new generation of heroes: bold visionaries who believe an unbeatable God is with you, strong communicators who speak truth instead of lies, talented actors who know God's promises are real.

So continue. Disregard majority opinion. If God is for you, who is against you? If Jesus saved you, who can defeat you? If you don't go now, who will stand and fight?

To Be Continued...

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
