And the man was speechless.
Matthew 22:12 (NAS)
When the Lord asks you a question, answer quickly. In the Parable of the Marriage Feast, the Lord approaches a poorly prepared guest with kindness: 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?' And the man was speechless.' When the man fails to respond, God's anger ignites, and the man is thrown 'into the outer darkness' (v.13).

When God comes to Job at the end of his trials, Job is put to shame by the Lord's Words. He decides it best not to speak: 'I am unworthy--how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.' Then the Lord said: 'Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me' (Job 40:7).

At AMTC, we believe improvisation is the foundation of acting success. Memorize as we may, scripts change constantly. Being quick with Spirit-led answers can get you jobs and make a career.

Maybe like the poorly-dressed dinner guest, you made a mistake and didn't prepare properly. Maybe like Job, you don't feel up to the job of speaking to a superior. Maybe you believe Improv is not your gift.

If you're a Christian, improvisation is a guaranteed gift.

'Do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit' (Mark 13:11). If you believe your audition or job is for God, He will tell you what to say.

So if God asks you a question--answer! If the world asks you a question on your mission from God--answer. If you are in a position to defend a brother--answer. To do less denies your gift of the Holy Spirit from God. He will never leave you speechless.

"I labored, yet not I. By the grace of God, I am what I am, and do what I do' (paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 15:10). I love God's Word. As a late-in-life committed Christian with no Bible training prior to age 51, some people wonder how I'm qualified to write devotions. I wonder that, too. But God loves children and fools for Him. I am both. Ghost Writer? God.
